What is Reiki?

Reiki is an energy healing technique from Japan that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. 

A Reiki practitioner will use their hands to deliver this energy to your body, which improves the flow and balance of your energy to support healing. 

 Reiki helps to heal physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. 

What are the
health benefits?

Reiki promotes relaxation, stress reduction and symptom relief to improve overall health and well being. It can do the following:

  • Bring on a meditative state

  • Foster tissue and bone healing after an injury or surgery

  • Stimulate your body’s immune system

  • Promote natural self healing

  • Relieve pain and tension

  • Improve sleep and digestion

  • Supports the recovery of people receiving traditional  medical treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. 

A Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit between you and the source of universal life force energy.  The energy flows through the practitioner's hands to you. You as the client will determine the amount of energy that is received.  

You will only take what is needed for your body.  

How does Reiki work?

What happens during a

Reiki session?

During a Reiki session you will lie on a massage table fully clothed.  Soft music will be playing along with a lit pleasant smelling candle. I will place my hands palms down on or just above your body in specific locations. Breasts and genitals are never touched. The length of time the hands are placed in each area is determined by the flow of Reiki.  A session usually lasts 45 to 60 minutes. You may experience the energy in the form of sensations like heat, tingling, pulsing where I have placed my hands.  Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful during a Reiki treatment and many fall asleep.  

How often should I have a Reiki Session?

As with any practice that promotes better health it is best to incorporate Reiki into your health routine.  I encourage you to start with 4  sessions  one week apart to unblock and begin balancing the energy system.  Afterwards we can discuss how many sessions are best for you based on your goals and what I felt during the sessions. Ultimately it is up to you.  Men and women report the most healing with between 2-4 sessions a month.

Reiki should not be used as a substitute for any medical treatment

It is meant to complement medical treatment, not replace it.
